The Simple Things....

As I get older (and wiser, I hope), I realize that it is the simple things in life that bring the most joy and reward.  A few simple things that made me smile this week:

1.  Two-armed, all encompassing hugs from my nieces...and Robert.
2.  Gorgeous sunny mornings with temps above zero.
3.  The crisp, fresh air that makes me want to go for a walk through the woods.
4.  The smell of a freshly roasted chicken.
5.  The crunch of a perfect Honeycrisp apple.
6.  The sound of my cat purring up a storm while cuddled on my chest.
7.  A quick cuddle with my honey in the midst of the chaos that is RRSP season.
8.  Seeing my little Mad Scientists completely engaged in learning about science and having a great time doing it.  Teaching is its own reward!  I can't believe I get paid to play with kids.
9.  One of those completely hilarious in-sympatico moments with my sister in the car wash.  If they had cameras monitoring, they would have seen two (supposedly) mature women laughing like completely idiots...and in good Swan fashion, slapping our legs and the dashboard like crazy people!!
10.  Visiting an elderly friend who shows us that you can still get great joy and learn new things even at an advanced age and with restricted mobility.

Hope you had some simple things that gave you joy this week!

Storm Days

We haven't had a whole lot of storm days this winter.  For Moncton, we really haven't had that much snow at all...in comparison to past years!  We had a good-sized snowfall on the weekend and that definitely called for staying off the roads, hunkering down and enjoying a cozy night while the snow and cold winds blew.

Start of the snow

Coziness!

We aren't the only ones who love the heat!

Just before bedtime
The side roads are still quite snow-packed three days later but the warm temps today will get rid of most of it.  I almost rear-ended a guy on Monday but pulled it out just in time.  Things that folks in warmer climates just don't have to worry about.....
