Things have been quite busy around the Patterson household lately. I have been teaching nine Mad Science sessions each week plus getting some laser treatments for a back problem which seems to have turned my life into an exercise in scheduling with several lunches in my car and a house that hasn't been vacuumed for far too long.
It will only be crazy like this for a couple of more weeks but I am trying to find some time to start some seedling for a small garden. With Dave eating so many veggies, I am starting to be aware of what is in the food we eat and how long it has travelled to get to us. If I can grow some in our backyard, we could have some nice fresh and vitamin-filled veggies this summer. Must get on this quickly!
We had to make a quick trip to Halifax yesterday for a business meeting and figured we should sneak in some cousin face-time since we haven't seen them for so long. We met 'Nieche at Colin & Joanne's cheesecakery which ticked two cousin boxes in one efficient stop. The shop is fantastic and the decor is so uber-cool that I just couldn't wipe the grin off my face while checking out all of the unique little touches. Even the bathrooms were an adventure in themselves.
We picked up a Creamy Lemon cheesecake and headed out to Andrew & Emma Joy's for supper. We definitely didn't want to miss a chance to meet new little arrival, Lara. She didn't disappoint. I got some great cuddle time with her while laying on the couch. What a cutie pie! They both are completely smitten with their new addition and seem to be settling into parent-hood nicely.
It was great to get some family time. I hate being out of touch for so long but life does take over and, before we realize it, it has been months since we've seen someone special or done something special.

Friendships
Crazy friends! Friends are a necessity and crazy friends are a delight. Sometimes you just need to let yourself go and be a little (or a lot) kooky : - ) The night started off politely chatting and quickly turned into a cut-throat battle-of-the-sexes game of Rook. I think we all left somewhat intact?

A break away from the every day....
This is our final day in Florida...sniff! Dave and I flew down last week to spend a week visiting Mom & Dad. We spent the week doing pretty much nothing...and didn't feel guilty about it for a second. This first quarter of the year was incredibly busy for Dave. We are definitely not complaining because the past three years since the market crash has been pretty quiet and things are picking up. After all of the recent activity, a break away from the chaos was definitely needed.
I got up each morning and went for a long walk in the sunshine with the warm breeze blowing on my bare arms. We have had such perfect weather! Once I started walking, I just kept wanting to keep going. There is a gorgeous walking trail right beside the complex and there is also a beautiful lake nearby. My camera has been my constant companion and I have had such fun rambling around, testing out settings, etc.
